I agree completely with the article. I think I posted a comment on Doug's original post that just outlined about 4-5 examples where you could increase the value of a used car by modifying it easily and flip it for a profit right now.

My blackbird (ultimate ground speed check) post made it to 75k before it was featured on the FP. (It took off through Facebook and imgur). That was WEIRD.

I ment to. Just hadn't yet. Not being a dick, so when I do get around to it, it'll be +1. I haven't read Doug's yet either. From the other comments its about the modifications things.
I agree on both fronts, tasteful mods will help, but mods one does for their own taste, not many other people will care for. Now I need to go find the to catch up, tomorrow.

December last year a post of mine went FP and generated over 90k hits and 180 responses by the time i decided to quit reading responses. (its 112k now i think) When you get that large in volume, there will be disagreeable types and in my case it started to generate single instance posters that signed on for a (probably) burner name just to post once and never bother if i responded to that. Made me sad in the end and question if it was a correct post. The absolute hate behind burner names is terrible. So, even if i want some attention to a post of mine because I feel like it would be good to share...well...be careful for what you wish for is what I got out of that! heh.
In the end i feel vindicated because what i threatened to happen in the future (this past winter) actually happened. Winter sucked and not enough people to go around to make it work, not enough replacement guys to take over because they were in the same boat.
